Mary Ann Evelyn Kronemann, 81, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
She was born April 10, 1931, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Knackendoffel) Schmidt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. Mary Ann attended rural school at District #92 in Fergus Falls Township, and then Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1949.
She was employed at the Fergus Falls State Hospital as a switchboard operator and receptionist.
On May 20, 1951, she married Kenneth Kronemann at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They moved to their farm in Orwell Township where they raised their family. She farmed with her husband until they retired from that profession in 1978.
Mary Ann was active in 4H club work – as a member, volunteering as an adult leader, serving on various county boards, and also as a member of the Minnesota State 4H Food and Nutrition Program Development Committee. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and its women’s organization. Mary Ann was a charter member of the Y’s folks and was a past president of that organization. She also was a volunteer at Lake Region Hospital.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her son, Darrel, in 2006, and many uncles and aunts.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, of Fergus Falls; two daughters, Mary Jo (Greg) Marcus of Fergus Falls, and Carolyn (Brian) Walker of Northfield; and four grandchildren, Melissa (Lonny) Duenow, Peter Marcus, and Patrick and Aaron Walker.
Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church Bell Choir or the Northfield Youth Choir.
Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home
