Mary “Rita” Pletta, 84, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, June 27, 2011, at the PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was born July 14, 1926, in Adams, Wisconsin, the daughter of Anthony and Gertrude (Gavinski) Graykowski. She graduated from the Adams-Friendship High School, and then attended Marquette University, receiving a Dental Hygiene Associate Degree. On April 3, 1948, she married Joseph H. Pletta in Adams. She was employed as a hygienist in Chicago, Illinois, and Winona, Minnesota for over 30 years, in addition to raising her family. She was a member of the WWII POW’S Association, and also served as a Girl Scout Leader. Rita enjoyed baking, sewing, spending time at their summer cabin, and especially being a Grandma. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Joseph, and a brother Edward Graykowski. Survivors include a sister, Mary Ramona Pautzke, of Winona, MN; her children: Cathy Jankowski of Peoria, AZ, Alice Hans of St. Charles, IL, Joseph Pletta of Rochester, MN, Patricia Mitchell of Jeffersonville, OH, Ted Pletta of West Concord, MN, and Steve Pletta of Fergus Falls, MN; her grandchildren: Carley Pletta, Hilary Pletta, Daniel Pletta, and Benjamin Pletta, of West Concord, MN, Aileen Pletta and Madeline Pletta of Rochester, MN, Edward Jankowski, Brian Jankowski, Mark Jankowski, and Sarah Jankowski of Peoria, AZ, Brianna Mitchell, and Alexis Mitchell of Jeffersonville, OH, and Matthew Hans, and Victoria Hans of St. Charles, IL; and four great-grandchildren: Mikayla Jankowski, Blake Jankowski, Braedon Jankowski, and Salem Jankowski, all of Peoria, AZ. Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at the PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls Officiant: Sister Joyce Leibly Interment: Will be at 12 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
