Mary Leabo, 89, of Fergus Falls, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls.  She was born November 20, 1919, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Peter and Mayme (Nelson) Haugen. She attended school at Madison Elementary and Washington Junior High. On March 3, 1940, she married Orval Leabo. The couple made their home in rural Underwood until 1986. She was most recently a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church, and was active at Vang Church in her younger years, where she served as President of the Ladies’ Aid, and was a Sunday School teacher and assistant to the superintendent of Sunday School. She thoroughly enjoyed being involved in 4-H and was an adult leader for many years. Her favorite was the 4-H plays. Mary had also been a volunteer for the Heart Fund and chairman for the March of Dimes for Aurdal Township. Mary very much enjoyed gardening and tending to her many beautiful flowers, and also canning, baking, embroidery and latch hook, and her greatest passion was walking. She enjoyed her family very much and the “little ones” were her greatest joy.
