Mary Ann Germundson, 81, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls. She was born February 22, 1930, in Karlstad, Minnesota, the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Lund) Pearson. She grew up in the Karlstad area, attending country school through the 8th grade, and then Karlstad High School, graduating in 1948. She also attended Bemidji State College, Fergus Falls Community College, and Moorhead State University. On October 16, 1949, she married Omar Germundson in Karlstad. They made their home in Fergus Falls where they raised their family. Mary Ann started teaching in the fall of 1969, and was an elementary teacher in the Fergus Falls Public Schools, teaching 2nd and 3rd grade for 22 years. Mary Ann was a member of the ADK Sorority, and First Lutheran Church where she participated in the Ladies Aid. She was also involved with the CampFire Girls organization. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, quilting, cooking and baking, camping, fishing, motorcycling, snowmobiling, and traveling. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Omar, in 2006, a sister-in-law, Theone Passer, and a nephew, Jerry Passer. Survivors include three daughters, Mary (David) Walvatne of Dalton, Bobbie (Gary) Lembcke of Norwood Young America and Patty (Bernie) Formo of Underwood; one son, Dan Germundson of Dalton; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Karah, Nicolas, Anna, Danielle, Ben, Angie, Samuel and Audrey; five great-grandchildren; two nieces, DeNece Eggers and Terry Burkey; and one nephew, Darrell Passer.
