Mary Ella Anderson

Mary Ella Striffler Anderson, 91, of Fergus Falls, died on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, surrounded by her family and under the care of Lakeland Hospice.

Mary was born on January 29, 1925, in Western Township in Ottertail County to John and Esther (Walz) Striffler. She attended country school and the Fergus Falls district and finished the eighth grade at District 65. On March 29, 1942, she was confirmed at the First Evangelical and Reformed Church in Fergus Falls, now known as the First United Church of Christ. On April 18, 1946, she became a member of the Federated Church in Fergus Falls.

On December 12, 1954, she was married to Glen Anderson at the Federated Church in Fergus Falls. Together they had three children. Mary was a caretaker for her grandmother and worked at the bus depot for a year, before becoming a stay-at-home mother.

Mary loved her children and grandchildren and was so happy when they would come to visit her. Mary enjoyed her radio and her television to keep up on the news and weather and enjoyed listening to church services when she was unable to get there. Mary also enjoyed reading, basketball, football, baseball, game shows and collecting salt and pepper shakers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Esther Striffler; a son-in- law, Jim Solin; sister-in-law, Ruth Striffler; and a special friend, Erma Wallace.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Donna Solin of Fergus Falls; three sons, Henry (Kathy) Striffler of Idaho Dale (Carol) Anderson of Breckenridge, and David (Nora) Anderson of Breckenridge; 12 grandchildren, Daniel, Angela, Jessica, Glenn, Matthew, Amy, Lisa, Trenton, Christopher, Jennifer, Daniel and Justin; numerous great-grandchildren; and her brother, Emil Striffler of Fergus Falls; and special friends, Walter and Bonnie Gondrez, Kirk and Dodie Scott and Skip Schreiber.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Federated Church in Fergus Falls.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the Olson Funeral Home and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Federated Church, Fergus Falls
