Marvin H. Weik, 85, a resident of Rothsay, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge, Minnesota. He was born March 22, 1925, in rural Rothsay, Minnesota, the son of Wilhelm and Alma (Halbakken) Weik. He grew up in the Rothsay area, graduating from high school there. On March 29, 1944, he entered the U. S. Army. He served overseas during World War II until he was wounded in Germany on November 30, 1944. He was discharged on April 9, 1946. When he returned to Rothsay he married Arline Jensen on June 23, 1951, in Rothsay. They had two children, Laurie and Kevin. He began working at Lindberg Motors in Rothsay on June 1, 1951, working as a parts man and bookkeeper until his retirement on March 30, 1987. Marvin was a member of Hamar Lutheran Church, and a lifetime member of the Pelican Rapids VFW. He enjoyed woodworking, playing horseshoes, teasing his grandchildren, and watching sports, and he took pride in maintaining a well manicured lawn. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Arline, in 1998, a brother, George, and a sister, Margaret Thomas. Survivors include his two children: Laurie (Larry) Wilde of Burnsville, and Kevin (Nancy) Weik of Breckenridge; three grandchildren: Jason Wilde of Burnsville, Brianne Weik of Breckenridge, and Brooke (Corey) Haugen of Breckenridge; a great-grandson, Connor Haugen; his siblings: Ardis Hovland of Pelican Rapids, Walter (Audrey) Weik of Washington, Doris (Edward) Jorgenson of Rothsay, Dorothy (Elroy) Jorgenson of Rothsay, Marcella (Earl) Johnson of Fargo, and Phyllis (Dennis) VanWechel of Wolverton; a sister-in-law, Effie Weik of Fargo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
