Marvin Julian Ronningen, 85, of Dent, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Marvin was born on September 18, 1930, in Trondhjem Township, Ottertail County, to Julian and Edith (Baumgartner) Ronningen. He graduated from Rothsay High School and after graduation he worked as an auto mechanic at Lindberg Motors in Rothsay. He was enlisted in the United States Army from February 1952 to February 1954, serving in Germany.
On August 3, 1968, he married Alma Westergard in Moorhead, MN. Marvin worked as a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service in Fargo, ND, until his retirement.
Marvin was a member of Maplewood Lutheran Church in rural Erhard and enjoyed scroll sawing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Edith Ronningen.
Marvin is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Alma Ronningen of Dent; his children, Julia (Carl) Rundberg of Boise, ID, Joel (Alana) Ronningen of Apple Valley, and Leah Ronningen of Rothsay; his sister, Arlene (Elroy) Anderson of Fergus Falls; and his brother, Evan (Lonnie) Ronningen of Seattle, MN.
