Marvel Peterson

Marvel M. Peterson, 99, a resident of Pelican Rapids, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Sanford Health in Fargo.

Marvel was born on August 20, 1916 in Fort Yates, ND, the daughter of Omar and Grace (Keogh) Herzog. She grew up in Pelican Rapids and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1934.

On March 9, 1940 she married Art Berg in Pelican Rapids, MN. For many years, Marvel worked at the Super Value store in Pelican Rapids. Art died in 1967 and on September 25, 1969 she married Kenneth Peterson. They farmed until their retirement at which point they moved into Pelican Rapids in 1995. Kenneth died on September 9, 1996.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. She always had a large garden she enjoyed caring for and also grew wonderful raspberries. She was a quilter at church and she was very proud of all her beautiful hardanger pieces.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Art and Kenneth; brothers, Tom and Clinton, Vincent and Keo Herzog and sisters, Laureen and Elois.

Survivors include her sisters, Delores (Everett) Peterson of Fargo, ND;, Marjorie Engebretson of Pelican Rapids; brothers, Kenneth (Ruth) Herzog of Vancouver, WA; Charles (Shirley) Herzog of Montasano, WA; niece, Tami (Dennis) Jones of Baltimore along with other numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN.
