Martin Godfrey

Martin J. Godfrey, 45, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, August 2, 2012, at his home. He was born November 11, 1966, in Faribault, the son of Michael and Joan (Ward) Godfrey.  He attended school in Faribault, graduating in 1985.  He then moved to Fergus Falls to attend Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Martin worked in advertising with the Heart Beat of America Campaign for Chevrolet, throughout the United States.  He later was employed at Home Depot, and most recently as a welder for Shoremaster. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed golf, range shooting, playing poker and was a jokster.  He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his daughter, Lacy (Adam Grinnen) Godfrey of Moorhead; his companion, Shannon Kugler of Fergus Falls and her children, Abbie, Orrie and Seth; stepchildren, Sara Huelsman of Fergus Falls and Cory Huelsman of Fargo, ND along with their mother Dee Frederiksen of Borup; his parents, Mike and Joan Godfrey of Faribault; sisters, Louise (Jim) Larson of California, Nancy (David) Godfrey of St. Paul and Colleen (Scott) Godfrey of Faribault; brothers, David (Carolee) Larson of Burnsville, Jim Godfrey of Sioux Falls, SD, Tim Godfrey of Rochester and Dan (Tiana) Godfrey of Eagle Lake; two granddaughters, Tiana and Hadley; numerous nieces and nephews along with his best friends Shawn (Amy) Kester and Tom (Deb) Watson. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Visitation -  One hour prior to the service at the funeral home Memorial service - 1 pm Monday at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls Interment - Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls Clergy - Pastors Jayson and Tammy Mueller
