Another angel has found their wings and has set off on flight safe into the arms of God, and to those who have gone before her, waiting and anticipating her arrival.
Marlys Marie Fortier, age 74, died Thursday, June 23, 2016, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 7, 1942, to Casimir and Julia Sobcinski in NE Minneapolis and graduated from Edison High School. After high school, she went to Vocational Technical School earning a certificate in Accounting and Business Machines. Over the years she worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company as an Audit Analyst/Cashier and was a Service Representative for TCF Bank.
On September 20, 1992, Marlys married Ted Fortier in Las Vegas, Nevada. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, quilting, ice skating, traveling and going to the local casinos with her friends. Marlys touched the hearts of many people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimir & Julia Sobcinski, a brother, Richard Sobcinski and son, Reginald Fortier.
Marlys is survived by her loving husband Ted; her daughters Jennifer Oney, Brenda (Scott) Sukut, and Regina (Pat) Theisen; a son Rodney Fortier; her grandchildren Chelsea, Justin, Noah, Maya, Catherine, Daniel, Anna and Derek; her brothers Thomas (Paulette) Sobcinski and Steven (Virginia) Sobcinski; a sister-in-law Ruth (Richard) Sobcinski; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Olson Funeral Home with a public prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
