Marlene Mavis Kugler, 73, a resident of Erhard, died Thursday, December 18, 2008, at MeritCare in Fargo. She was born December 27, 1934, in Aurdal Township, Otter Tail County, the daughter of Julius and Edna (Omlie) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Aurdal Lutheran Church. She grew up on the family farm, attending school in the area. In 1952 she graduated from Fergus Falls High School. She was employed at Fergus Dairy until her marriage. On May 22, 1954, she married Eldor Kugler at Aurdal Lutheran Church, rural Underwood. The couple made their home in Elizabeth Township until 1993, at which time they built their log home near Long Lake, where they have resided since. In addition to her work on the farm, she worked for many years in the produce department of Service Food. Marlene belonged to Tonseth Lutheran Church, it’s Ladies Aid, and was a volunteer at the Food Shelf. She loved sewing, gardening, crocheting, playing cards, baking, cooking, canning, camping with her family, and traveling. She will be remembered for her love of family, her hugs, and special times spent with her friends. Marlene had a special way of making her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren feel very loved. Preceding her in death were her father, Julius, and two infant siblings. Survivors include her husband, Eldor of Erhard; her children: Debbie (Mike) Messer of Carlos, MN, Tami (Pat) Collins of Fergus Falls, Kim (Roger) Dewey of Campbell, Shannon Leine of Fergus Falls, and Scott (special friend Debra) of Erhard; 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; her mother, Edna Anderson of Fergus Falls; one sister, Lorraine Isaacson of Montana; a brother, Joslyn (JoAnne) Anderson of Fergus Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a 5:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
