Marlene Anderson

Marlene Anderson, 87, of Battle Lake, died October 21, 2024, at her residence, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. 

Marlene was born January 30, 1937, to John and Sybil (Derr) Stine in Freeport, Illinois. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, Broen Home Auxiliary, Underwood Firemen’s Auxiliary, and a former member of Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Underwood where she was active in the church circles.

Marlene’s hobbies included Square Dancing, bowling, snowmobiling, gardening, all types of needle work, canning and wine making and helping transport the elderly. 

Her family relocated to Underwood, MN after WWII. Marlene worked at the school in the lunch program and the creamery in Underwood. Most of her working career was with J.C. Penney’s, retiring in 1999. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sybil Stine; husband of 52 years, Alvin Dornburg; husband of 7 years, Melvin Anderson; children; Cindy (Dornburg) Drechsel, Curt Dornburg, Colleen and (Sid) Spittle; grandson, Aaron Larson; brothers, Gerald, Kermit, Leroy, and Dale Stine.

Marlene is survived by her daughters, Carolee (Alvin) Peterson of Battle Lake and Cheryl (Floyd) Larson of Dalton; son in law Larry Drechsel; daughter in law, Norma Dornburg; grandchildren, Jared Spittle, Eli Drechsel, Anna Malecha, Nicole (Cory) Chaput, Joshua Peterson, Shane Dornburg, Charity (Zach) Hovland, Shelley Dornburg and Erica (Jacob) Jensen, Debrah Phillips; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Jackson Spittle, Lilly and William Dornburg, Carter and Carson Chaput, LillyAnne, Brody, Bria, Kinsley, and Colt Peterson, Logan, Ethan and Katelyn Hovland, Jacob Jr., Michael, Daphney, and Samuel Jensen, Thomas, Josef, Asta and Ariella Malecha. 

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2024, at Olson Funeral and Cremation Chapel with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Clergy: Reverend Loren Mellum

 Interment: Bethlehem Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN

 Arrangements provided by the Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls.
