Marion Rund

Marion Helen Rund, 71, of Fergus Falls, a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother died on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, surrounded by family, after fighting a month-long illness at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Marion Helen Rund (Rude) was born on March 28, 1953, to Kalmer and Mayme (Enger) Rude in Hazen, ND. The family moved around a lot in her younger years, but ultimately called the Dalton Ashby area home. She attended Ashby secondary school then later in life, she received her GED as well as attended some college classes.

In 1971, she married Dan Bertrand. Together they had two daughters, Paula and Danielle Grace. After Danielle's passing, the marriage dissolved.

She went on to marry, John Rund, on October 29, 1978 together they had a son, Mark. After a family tragedy in the summer of 1982, they took in her niece, Kim as their own. They raised their family on John's Family farm near Dalton, MN.

Marion's love for life was evident in her spunk, sass, and her stubborn spirit. Marion was a warrior. Back in 98 she fought and won a similar battle for life. Prior to which she loved to dance. She found solace in reading, joy in cooking and companionship with animals. Her generous heart extended to all types of people, including her "favorite nieces" during their journey of sobriety! She enjoyed visiting casinos, doing puzzles, and sewing.

A hard-working woman, Marion held various roles throughout her life. She worked as a seamstress at Rosenblatts; a waitress at establishments such as the Dalton Café, Our Place Restaurant and the Country Kitchen. She also worked at J Eggum Metal and Recycling in later years. With each one, a role that allowed her to connect with countless people over the years.

In 1996, Marion started a special relationship with Jim Eggum. Bringing their families together which included his two daughters, Marsha (Terry) and Mary (Mark) , as well as grandchildren, Dusty, Grace (Brent) , Elise (George) and Ross.

Marion was preceded in death by daughter, Danielle Grace; her parents, Kalmer and Mayme; brothers, Calmer, Kenny, Howard, Leo, Gene, Keith and Norman; two sisters, Recal and Violet and brother-in-law, Mike Bjornson.

She is survived by her children, Paula (Steve) Barsness and Mark Rund; bonus daughters, Doreen Frietag and Kim Bechard; grandchildren, Danielle (Jaime), Tessa (Justin), Cody F, Cody S and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Hattie, Etta, Tilly, Gage, Blake and Sawyer; sister, June Bjornson; several nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Dalton Community Center, Dalton, MN.
