Marilyn Lyden

Marilyn LuGene Lyden, 71, of rural Underwood, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at her home under the care of her family and Lakeland Hospice. She was born January 25, 1941, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Adolph B. and Maria (Grewe) Hauge. She grew up in Fergus Falls where she attended school. On September 19, 1992, she married Dale Lyden in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Marilyn was a homemaker until she received her Nurse Assistant Certification in 1983 and began working at the Broen Home. In 1987 she began working at Lake Region Hospital as a Nurse Assistant, and then worked in the Central Supplies Department until her retirement in 2003. She devoted her life to working, being a homemaker, and raising her family. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, sewing, puzzles, cards, knitting, hunting and cooking. Most of all she enjoyed time with her family and grandchildren. She also loved time spent at the family cabin near Bemidji. Preceding her in death were her parents; five brothers: Arlo, Don, Myron, Kermit, and George Hauge; two nephews, Michael and Timothy Hauge; her late husband, Orman Grant; and from Dale’s family, his late wife, Jane and daughter, Twila Lyden, two sisters, one brother, and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Survivors include her husband, Dale Lyden of Underwood; seven children: Randy (LeAnn) Grant of Underwood, Joel Grant of Fergus Falls, Jerome (JayAnn) Grant of Fergus Falls, Roxanne (Grant) Mortenson of Wheaton, Rick Lyden of Fergus Falls, Tammy (Tim) Tarnowski of Williston, ND, and Theresa (Jason) Hanley of Rock Island, TN; 19 grandchildren: Nicholas, Branden & Allison Grant, Austin, Alysha Grant & Steven Moen, Amanda & Kaylee Grant, Melissa Moore, Christine & Brigit Mortenson, Michael & Jaclyn Tarnowski, Josey, Jason, Jamie and Jesse Hanley, and Montana & Sunnie Hedstrom-Berg; one great-grandchild, Kinley Moen; several in-laws; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she adored equally; and her poodle, Baby. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and resumes one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls Clergy: Reverend Jeff McCracken Interment: Central Lutheran Cemetery, rural Pelican Rapids Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements
