Marian B. Unger, 90, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
She was born October 28, 1922, near Doran, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Frieda (Degner) Hansen. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran church in Campbell. She grew up in Brandrup Township, attending country school there, and then Campbell High School, graduating in 1942.
She began working at the Fergus Falls State Hospital in September of 1942, moving to work at the Fort Steilacoom, Washington Western State Hospital in 1943, and then to the San Antonio, Texas State Hospital in 1944.
On December 4, 1945 she married Carrell Lovellette in San Antonio, Texas, and they lived for a time in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. In 1945 she returned to Minnesota, working again at the Fergus Falls State Hospital until her retirement in 1987 after 38 years.
In 1956 she married Albert Unger at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, and they continued to make their home here. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Marian enjoyed gardening and doing photography in her free time.
Preceding her in death were her son, Gary Lovellette, who died in Viet Nam, her husband, Albert Unger in 1996; her parents; brothers Henry Hansen and Orville (Dorothy) Hansen; and sister-in-law Dolores Hansen.
Survivors include her brothers, Robert Hansen of Campbell MN, Donald (Bernice) Hansen of Breckenridge MN, and David (Lorna) Hansen of Lidgerwood ND; a stepson, William Gullickson of Faribault MN; nieces and nephews; and special neighbors Arlin and Ethel Mindermann of Fergus Falls.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home
Service: 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2013, at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls
