Marian Maurin

Marian Maurin, 89, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at her residence, Midwest Home Health Care, surrounded by her family and under the care of Lake Region Healthcare Hospice. She was born May 23, 1918, in Ashby, the oldest child of Louis and Mabel (Boe) Knutson. She was baptized at Pelican Lake Lutheran Church, Ashby by Rev. Norman. The family moved to Fergus Falls where she attended grade school and was confirmed by Rev. Elias Pederson at Zion Lutheran Church. In 1937 she graduated from Washington High School in Fergus Falls. Marian was employed by Otter Tail Power Company for 30 years, retiring March 1, 1983 as Senior Secretary. On July 26, 1969, she married John P. (Jack) Maurin. In October of 1986, they moved to Pueblo, Colorado returning to Fergus Falls in April of 1996, where they had resided since. While in Colorado, they became members of Christ the King Catholic Church where they served as Eucharistic Ministers. She was a member of the Daughters of Mary, the Pueblo Newcomers Club, the Knife and Fork Club, Two square dance club, and a Round dance club. She was also a charter member of the Lioness Club, a member of Catholic Daughters of the America, Fergus Falls, a former member of the Mary Magdeline Circle of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and a former member of Modern Squares of Fergus Falls. Preceding her in death, were her parents; her husband, John "Jack" in April of 2006; a sister, Beverly Olson and brothers, Oscar, Sidney, Warren, Richard and Robert. Survivors include a son, Jack (Diann) Stevens of Dalton; grandson, Scott (Stacey) Stevens of Cypress, TX; great-grandsons, Jacob Allen Stevens and Cooper Scott Stevens; her sisters, Lucille Pikop of Thief River Falls and Shirlee Olson of Underwood and a brother, Gilford ?Butch? Knutson of Fergus Falls.
