Marian Hansen

Marian Lenore Hansen, 92 years and 3 months, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, November 21, 2010, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born August 21, 1918, at the family home in Pelican Rapids, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Stephenson) Hanson. Marian grew up in Pelican Rapids and attended Pelican Rapids schools through 8th grade. She was baptized and confirmed at Pelican Valley Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids. On August 26, 1941, she married Louis R. Hansen, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Parsonage, Elizabeth. The couple farmed in the Fergus Falls area and worked for the Ervin Strande family. Marian moved to Alcott Manor in October of 1998. Due to failing health, she moved to the Broen Memorial Home in October of 2010. Marian enjoyed playing piano, baking, crocheting, dancing, old time music and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. Marian will be remembered for her love of family, baking of lefse, rosettes, sunbakkels, cookies and tea rings. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Louis, who died in April of 2001; and a sister, Edna Griepentrog. Survivors include two sons, Duane (Bonnie) and Larry all of Spicer; a niece, Mary Lou (ElRoy) Maack; grandchildren, Tonya (Christopher) Slack, Joseph (Karen) Hansen, and Troy (Ashley) Hansen; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Colt, Ella and Kaitlyn Slack and Zander, Cheyanna and Kaedyn Hansen. A special thanks to Broen Memorial Home, Alcott Manor and Debbie (Maack) Jorgenson for special care and assistance.
