Marian Clara Evjen, 81, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was born September 12, 1930 in Wahpeton, North Dakota, the daughter of Leo and Viola (Bentzin) Dominick. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1948, and then attended the University of North Dakota, receiving degrees in Social Work and Physical Education. She also took summer classes at Hamline College. Marian taught school in St. Paul, Parkers Prairie, and Underwood. Marian was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta in Grand Forks. She enjoyed gardening, especially with her flowers, and had a love for dogs. She was a great swimmer, using her skills as a certified lifeguard. Time spent at the lake was one of her favorite activities. Marian also would participate at her friend Barbara Allison’s piano recitals, giving expressive readings and excerpts. Preceding her in death were her parents, and her husband, Russell, in 2005. Survivors include a sister, Doris Wenino, of Fergus Falls; and two nieces, Wendy (Terry) Kremeier of Atlanta, GA, and Lisa (Stephen) Bielfeldt of Lakewood, CO. A private family service will be held at a later date with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fergus Falls. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.
