Marguerite Elizabeth Thoen, 94, of rural Underwood, died Tuesday, November 07, 2006, at her home. She was born May 3, 1912 in Frazee, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Eva (Iten) Como. She graduated from Frazee High School in 1930. Marguerite, who was known as Mugsy to her family and friends, married Clifford Thoen on March 31, 1932 in Fergus Falls. They were together for 57 years. Cliff's work for Otter Tail Power Company sent them to Rolla and Casselton, North Dakota for several years. They returned to Fergus Falls in 1946 and it became their permanent home. She was a homemaker. Marguerite continued to live in Fergus Falls after Cliff's death in 1989. She entered the Shady Oaks Retreat elder care home in Underwood, Minnesota in 2002. She loved reading, listening to classical music, and attending local plays and concerts. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Cliff, in 1989, a son, Orion Alan in 2003; a great-grandson, Kristopher Lund in 1985; her brother, Bernard Como; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Keller. Survivors include her children: David (Darlene) Thoen of Fergus Falls, and Iris (Kermit) Lund of Gilroy, California; daughter-in-law, Lynn Thoen of Crookston; grandchildren: Tracy (Tim) Hornung of Appleton, WI, Siri (Jon) Meyer and Stephanie (Corey) Paverud of Crookston, MN, Durant (Marlys) Thoen, Sr. of Fergus Falls, Darla (Michael) Jackson of Jackson Hole, WY, Denise Thoen (husband Lee Eckman) of Hamel, MN; Kevin Lund of Eureka, CA, and Sean (Chereece) Lund of Gilroy, CA; great-grandchildren: Sophie Hornung, Elliot Meyer, Emile Meyer, Evan Meyer, Easton Meyer, Mercedes Paverud, Oxsana Paverud, David Thoen, Durant Thoen, Jr., Tyler Jackson, Corey Jackson, Dezaray Thoen, Rayna Eckman, Michael Lund, James Lund, Gordon Lund, and Aric Lund; a brother, James (Martha) Como of Alta Loma, CA; and a sister-in-law, Viola Keller of Bisbee, ND. A time for family and friends to remember and share Marguerite's life will be held on Saturday, June 16, from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Home. Refreshments will be served.
