Margaret Shirley

Margaret A. Shirley, age 84, of Fergus Falls died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born August 1, 1925, in Rothsay to Christ and Hannah (Kjono) Olson.   She had a brother, Harry Olson and two sisters, Ethel Edwards and Lu McMullen. She attended Rothsay High School.   On March 16, 1947 she married William Shirley of rural Rothsay.   They resided in Fergus Falls and had two children, Linda and Terry, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  She worked in retail at several department stores in Fergus Falls and at Bergens Florist. Her hobbies included gardening, piano and antiques.   She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church.   During the last eight years she lived at the Broen Home.  Survivors include daughter Linda (Wayne) Brunton of Lakewood, Washington, son Terry (Audrey) Shirley of Williston, North Dakota and sister, Ethel (Earl) Edwards of Wolverton, MN; grandchildren, Daniel (Molly) Brunton of Lakewood, WA, Melissa Brunton of Olympia, WA, Erica (Dennis) Healy of Fargo; great-grandchildren, Sarah and William Brunton and Reese and Brian Healy.   Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William, grandson Brian Shirley, brother Harry Olson and sister Lu McMullen. Visitation:   One hour prior to the service Service: 1 p.m. Thursday at the Light and Life Auditorium at the Broen Memorial Home.
