Margaret “Peggy” T. Peterson, 57, of Fergus Falls, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015, at her home, following a courageous three year battle with cancer.
Margaret Therese Culhane was born on February 24, 1958, in Marshall, MN, to William C. and Frances (Fargen) Culhane. She attended elementary school at Holy Redeemer and graduated from Marshall High School in 1976. She earned her education degree and her Master’s in Education Leadership degree from Southwest State University.
On November 6, 1982, she was united in marriage to Bryan Peterson in Marshall. Peggy was a first grade teacher with the Fergus Falls Public School District #544 from 1990 to 2012.
Peggy enjoyed spending time on the lake, gardening, mowing her lawn, pontooning, following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, outdoor activities, traveling, shopping and spending time with her family and friends. She loved flowers and spent many hours tending the beautiful gardens at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances; and two sisters, Kathleen Garrow and Patricia Culhane.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Bryan Peterson of Fergus Falls; three brothers, James (Marsha) Culhane, Michael (Carol) Culhane and Terry (Sandy) Culhane, all of Marshall; three brothers-in-law, Gordy Garrow of Sioux Falls, SD, Dale (Jann) Peterson of Dalton and Neil (Peggy) Peterson of Larimore, ND; a sister-in-law, Ronda (Bill) Roberts of Dalton; her mother-in-law, Alice Gene Peterson of Fergus Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Lake Region Cancer Care and Research Center or to the District #544 Foundation.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the Olson Funeral Home with prayers at 6:30 PM and one hour prior to the service at First Lutheran Church
Service: 11:00 AM on Friday, September 25, 2015, at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
Interment: Family burial at First Lutheran South Cemetery in Fergus Falls
