Margaret “Peggy” Jean Housholder, 89, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls.
She was born on June 3, 1925 to James T. and Bertha O. (Holm) Jones in Fergus Falls. She was baptized and confirmed in the Federated Church. She attended grade school in Fergus Falls until her senior year, then moved to Sauk Center in 1941. She graduated from Sauk Center High in 1942. She returned to Fergus Falls shortly after and married William Leeman in 1945. After living in West Fargo, ND and Casselton, ND the family of seven returned to Fergus Falls in 1963. She married Richard Housholder in 1975.
She started with the Northwestern Bell telephone company her senior year of high school continuing to work with N.W. Bell until it closed in 1981. She worked with N.W. Bell in Sauk Center, West Fargo, Fergus Falls. Upon closing the N.W. Bell and 37 years with them, Peggy also worked at Hallmark, Herbergers (retiring in 1997), and Taco John’s (she was the very loved mint lady). Margaret was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James and Bertha; brother, Gordon Jones; daughter, Rebecca Gutz; granddaughter, Nicole Strom; and William Leeman and Richard Housholder; great-granddaughters, Heaven Brown and Angel Lynn Gutz.
She is survived by her four daughters, Jacqueline (Daryl) Larson of Tucson, AZ, Patricia (Wayne) Link, Beth Strom and Amy (James) Underdahl all of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Kym (Kurt) Nygaard, and John (Angie) Gutz of Fergus Falls, Kyle (Kim) Larson of Moorhead, Sherie (Jeff) Brown of Belton, MO, Kari Link of Fergus Falls, Adam (Sarah) Link of Moorhead, Alex Link of Minneapolis, Andrew (Liz) Link of Minnetonka, Jason (Becky) Lee of Elbow Lake, Jeremy Lee (Fiancé Kaila Hanson) of Fergus Falls and Amanda Strom of Elbow Lake, Tarra (Matt Pelaquin) Strom of Rogers, Tyler (Amber) Underdahl of Fargo, ND, Trisha Underdahl of Alexandria and Amber (Seth) Olson of Underwood; as well as 26 great-grandchildren.
Memorials preferred to Pioneer Care Senior Cottages or Lakeland Hospice.
