Margaret I. Johnson, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, went to be with her Lord Jesus, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND. Margaret was born on February 12, 1920 in Bagley, MN, the daughter of Ole and Martha (Refsland) Mickelberg. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Bagley. Margaret attended country school in Bagley and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. After graduation, she moved to Fergus Falls. She married Oscar Johnson on January 10, 1942 at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. The couple lived and farmed in Orwell Township. Margaret was employed briefly at West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids and at the Viking Cafe in Fergus Falls. She was also involved with the family strawberry business for many years. Margaret resided on the family farm until February of 2010, at that time she entered the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. Margaret was active in the local homemakers club, the Orwell Sunshine Circle. She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church for nearly 70 years; until recently when she became a member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting with the ladies of Augustana and was involved in ladies aid. Margaret also enjoyed visiting with friends at the Sr. Citizen Center and participating in several trips and outings. She loved to bake and always had homemade cookies, cake or bread for all who stopped to visit. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar (March 18, 1984); an infant sister and a brother-in-law, Ed Brist, Sr. Survivors include three sons, James, Orvis and Dennis (Evangeline) Johnson all of Fergus Falls; two daughters, Marlene (Ronald) Hauge and Donna (Dewey) Walkup all of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren, Troy (Leslie) Hauge, Dacia Walkup of Fergus Falls and Brent Hauge of Bemidji; sister, Opal Brist of Fergus Falls. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday with a 6:30 public prayer service at the funeral home.
