Margaret "Muggs" Hazel Hagen, 92, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, January 16, 2011, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born May 17, 1918, in Maine Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Alfred and Lena (Lofthus) Johnson. She graduated from Underwood High School. She worked on the family farm until her marriage. Margaret was married to Arnold Hagen at the home farm by Reverend M. J. Berge on February 22, 1942. They purchased the farm in 1947 where they lived and farmed. She also took care of their home and they ran "Hagen's Point" on Pleasant Lake. Arnold passed away on June 17, 1997. In September of 2006 Margaret moved to the Mill Street Residence, and in December of 2009 to the Broen Memorial Home. She was a former member of Tingvold Lutheran Church. In 1987 she became a charter and faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She was very active in the Otter Tail County Historical Society, where she worked on historical records and data collecting and genealogy. Margaret enjoyed crafts and baking and cooking - especially lefse, rosettes, and rommegrot. A highlight of Margaret and Arnold's life was a trip to Norway in 1981. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Arnold; a sister, Mildred Hagen; and a brother, Anthony Johnson. Survivors include a sister, Arlene (Chester) Laugen of Fergus Falls; a brother, Gordon (Mary) Johnson of Fergus Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
