Margaret "Maggie" Flatin
August 4, 1920 — March 9, 2016
Margaret “Maggie” Flatin, 95, a resident of Pelican Rapids, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.
Maggie was born on August 4, 1920, to Fred and Augusta (Flemm) Miller in Tower City, ND. She attended school in in Fergus Falls through the eighth grade.
On November 29, 1942, Maggie was married to Glenn Morris Flatin in Fergus Falls. Glenn passed away on May 15, 1963. Over the years, Maggie managed the Rothsay Municipal Liquor Store and multiple Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants, and was also a cook at Lake Region Healthcare and the Pelican Valley Health Center.
Maggie enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, playing Canasta and other card games, bingo, bowling, crotcheting, and taking trips to the casino in Mahnomen to play the slots.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Augusta Miller; her husband, Glenn Flatin; a son, Frederick Flatin; a daughter, Mary Ann Flatin; a granddaughter, Jessica Flatin; a grandson, Alexander Restad; and her siblings, Phyllis, Loretta, Gertrude, Rose, Richard and Bonnie.
Margaret is survived by her children, Jerry (Janice) Flatin of Grand Forks, ND, Allen (Wanda) Flatin of Rothsay, and Roberta (Stuart) Restad of Pelican Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Karen Flatin of Tenstrike; her grandchildren, Missy (Michael) Plotts, Michael Thompson, Glenn Thompson, Tessie (Case) Wagenaar, Amanda (Monica) Flatin, Kimberly (Nicholas) Fosse, Matthew Flatin, Lisa Flatin, Amber Restad, and Amos (Derek Bromme) Restad; her great-grandchildren, Serene Plotts, Breann Plotts, Ivy Thompson, William Thompson, Robert Thompson, Caden Grasso, Emerson Wagenaar, Nathan Fosse, Kaitlyn Fosse, James From and Lucas From; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, March 14, 2106, at the Olson Funeral Home and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay
