Marcyle A. Hanson, 91, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, October 04, 2008 at the Broen Memorial Home. She was born on July 18, 1917 in Esmond, North Dakota, the daughter of Howard and Sally (Sentman) Stevens. She grew up in the Maddock, North Dakota area and graduated from Maddock High School. On July 17, 1941, she married Selmer Hanson in New Rockford, North Dakota. The couple farmed in Esmond for 7 years and then moved to Minnewauken. During these years, the couple was blessed with two sons, Stanley, born in 1942 and Sidney, born in 1945. In 1949, the family moved to Fergus Falls. Upon moving to Fergus Falls, Marcyle did domestic housework and then went to work as a nurse’s aide at the Broen Memorial Home, where she worked until her retirement. Marcyle was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Bethel WMF, senior citizens ministry and during her years at Bethel, rocked many babies for the MOPS program. She also belonged to the Dalton Threshing Association and had many good times with her birthday club. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Husband Selmer who died in 1992; four siblings, Lottie Swanson, Velma Breuer, Benjamin Stevens and Milton Stevens; daughter-in-law, Beverly (Schulz) Hanson and one great-great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Rose Sem. Survivors include two sons, Stanley (Doris) Hanson and Sidney Hanson, both of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren, LaVonne Hanson and her friend Scott Huseth, Mary Ann (Randy) Martin and Stanley “Shorty” (Shirley) Hanson, Jr; five great-grandchildren, Samuel and Megan Aschnewitz, Justin Huseth, Benjamin and MacKenzie Martin; a brother-in-law, Herman (Ida) Hanson of Fergus Falls; and many nieces, nephews, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great grandchildren. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the Light and Life Auditorium. Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Light and Life Auditorium in the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls.
