Marcelyn "Marci" E. Door

Marcelyn “Marci” Ellen Door, age 73, a resident of Fergus Falls and formerly of Pelican Rapids, died on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

She was born on March 29, 1942, in Hettinger, ND, to Herbert E. and Bernice (Marple) Quamme. She attended grade school in rural Adam’s County in North Dakota. She later moved to Minneapolis, where she graduated from Central High School in 1961.

On September 1, 1962, she married George B. Door in Mankato. In 1972, the family moved to Rapidan, MN. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was self-employed as an in-home daycare provider for thirty years. In 2007, they moved to Pelican Rapids and most recently in 2013, they moved to Fergus Falls.

Marci was a member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. She enjoyed needlepoint, Scrabble, baking cookies for her grandkids and visiting friends. Marci had a mother’s heart for everyone and cherished her time spent in bible study with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Bernice Quamme; and a foster child, Nathan.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, George Door of Fergus Falls; her children, Jody (Chris) Menk of Pelican Rapids, Jeff Door of Rapidan, Clayton (Kimi) Door of Abilene, TX, Catherine (Toby) Wallace of Byron and Sue Fish of White Bear Lake, who was a special daughter in Marci’s heart; her grandchildren, Desiree (Dustin Miller) Menk, Daniel Jones, Kelisha (Zach Anderson) Jones, Nicole Wallace, Hope Door, Herbert Door, Nicholas and Caleigh; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Anderson; siblings, Edward Quamme of Hettinger, ND, Robert (Barb) Quamme of East Grand Forks, Lynn (Lois) Quamme of Grand Forks, ND, and Charlotte (Gene) Meschke of Rapidan; she is also survived by her godchildren; nieces and nephews; two foster children, Selena and Tony; and countless daycare children, whom she deeply cherished.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Olson Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church
