Mae Reich transitioned peacefully on March 14, 2024 after quality time with her family in Largo, Florida.
Mae Floriene was born to Christ and Matilda (Bersch) Kirschenmann on May 31, 1931 on their farm in Eureka, South Dakota. She met Marvin Reich and they married May 26, 1948. They moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota where their first son Guy Van was born. Ten years later, the family suffered a heartbreak when Myron Christian passed away at birth.
Mae worked at Lake Region Hospital for 39 years, beginning as a night receptionist and rising to the position of Administrative Secretary.
The “Cedar Ave Group” consisting of the Reichs, the Beckers, the Bolls, the Lohns and others were a source of entertainment and camaraderie in their young married lives.
Later in life, Mae enjoyed traveling with her good friend, Mary Ann Seivert. Mae had many pals like Goody that liked to gather at Perkins or the Viking Café to discuss life and most importantly for “therapy”. Longer trips and medical appointments were lovingly provided by Donna Ohe and Mary Ann when Mae could no longer drive.
She devoted her life to her son, daughter -in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, pets and work.
She liked Tom Selleck, watching TV shows and the news, Canadian Club, juicy oranges and bourbon chocolate pecans.
Mae also deeply missed her animal companions who had crossed over "The Rainbow Bridge," namely Fifi, LB, and Taddy.
She is survived and greatly missed by her son, Guy Reich (Cathy); grandchildren, Allison, Megan and Matt; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Courtney, Mya, Mazzy and Franka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Emma, Leona and Alvin; and son, Myron Christian.
There will be a celebration of Mae’s life on September 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Federated Church in Fergus Falls, MN.
