Madalen Jane Bergerson, age 84, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at the Lakeland Hospice House in Fergus Falls. She was born May 27, 1926, in Manvel, North Dakota, the daughter of Walter and Rose (Murphy) Nagle. She grew up in the Manvel area, and graduated from Manvel High School in 1943. Following high school she moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she worked for two years. She then worked for three years for the Great Northern Railroad in the Midwest. On September 18, 1947, she married Milton Bergerson in Fergus Falls. She farmed with her husband for 36 years near Dalton, where they raised their family. She lived there until Milton’s death in 1983. She later lived in Mesa, Arizona, St. Cloud, MN, Grand Forks, ND, and then Fergus Falls. Madalen was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church for 47 years, and was also a member of the Homemakers Club. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and bowling. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Milton, in 1983, a grandson, Keith, in 1992, and siblings Kay, John, Rosella, Ellen and Barb. She is survived by her eight children: Warren (Debbie) Bergerson of Norfolk, MA, Maxine Werner of Brooklyn Park, MN, Audrey (Rolf) Sumstad of Plymouth, MN, JoEllen (Steve) Bertram of St. Louis, MO, Daryl (Vickie) Bergerson of Dalton, MN, Eydie (Mark) Stromberg of Maple Grove, MN, Dave (Karen) Bergerson of Novato, CA, and Diane (Conrad) Feldt of Grand Rapids, MN; 15 grandchildren: Chris Bergerson, Patrick Bergerson, Amy Jo (Paul) McDougal, Ben Werner, Jesse (Katie) Sumstad, Emily Sumstad, Todd (PJ) Bertram, Heather (Derek) Schnell, Sheila (Robert) Fossan, Jenny Stromberg, Eric Stromberg, Josh Bergerson, Jake Bergerson, Kelsea Bergerson and Abigail Bergerson; eight great-grandchildren: Derek, Waylon, Dakota, Brayden, Mikayla, Charlotte, Oscar and Oliver; a sister, Francis Stastad of Grand Forks, ND; and a brother, Bill (Joyce) Nagle of Boring, OR.
