M.L. "Mike" Brenna

M. L. “Mike” Brenna, 86, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids.
Mike was born on December 8, 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota the youngest child of Melvin O. and Alice R. (Asleson) Brenna. He grew up and attended school in South St. Paul.
On January 21st, 1956 he married Janet M. Shigley in St. Paul and they lived for several years in Inver Grove Heights. In May of 1969, Mike and Janet moved their family to Pelican Rapids where they had purchased a Barber Shop downtown. Mike continued to cut hair until his retirement in December of 1991.
Through the years Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and ‘barber shop debating’ with all his friends and customers. They spent several winters in the warmth and sunshine of the Gulf Coast at Port Aransas, Texas. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Pelican Rapids Lion Club.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; Melvin and Alice, his siblings; Carl, Don and Carol; as well as a granddaughter; Jennifer.
He is survived by his wife; Janet, three children; Lowell (Loree), Lee (Cheryl) and Mary, six grandchildren; Katie, Michael (Amber), David (Sky), Sarah (Tyler), Jon (Melissa) and Amy (Kory) along with six great grandchildren: Ottilia, Charlotte, Kamryn, Kaiya, Emmery and Nolan.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN
Clergy: Reverend Scott Block and Pastor Allen Westby
Burial: Northwestern Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MN
