Margie Lorraine Johnson, 91, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, January 8, 2018, at LifeSong Residence in Fergus Falls.
She was born on August 25, 1926, the daughter of Tony and Ruth (Hoff) Carlson in Bottineau, ND. Lorraine attended school in Bottineau and graduated from high school in 1944. She was employed at the Gamble Store in Bottineau.
On June 22, 1947, she married Orville Johnson at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. In 1948, she moved with her husband to Fergus Falls where she has resided since.
Lorraine was active in Cub Scouts, and aiding and abetting her husband with the Boy Scouts while their sons were in scouting. She was a meticulous housekeeper and dearly enjoyed keeping her home in spotless condition. For a few years she worked at Woolworth's Department Store which enabled her to accumulate a few more treasures for her home.
In 1940, she started and maintained a pen pal correspondence with Norman Winn of Leeds, England. Perhaps one of her most enjoyable vacation trips was in 1980 when she and her husband visited Norman and his wife Beryl in England. In 1991, Norman and Beryl reciprocated with a visit to Fergus Falls. Also, since her parents, three brothers, and a sister moved from Bottineau to Portland, OR and vicinity, frequent trips were made to that area.
Following her husband’s retirement in 1985, Lorraine had the pleasure of maintaining a mobile home in Mesa, AZ, as well as her home in Fergus Falls.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Orville in 2016; sons, Michael and Ronald; sister, Ann Daniels; brothers, Lloyd Carlson, Le Roy Carlson, and Randolph Carlson.
Survivors include her grandson, Stephen Johnson of Minneapolis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
