Lynn A. Stumbo, 87, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
He was born December 16, 1927, in rural Hitterdal, the son of Burley and Carrie (Anderson) Stumbo. At the age of 17, he left the family farm and traveled the world with the Merchant Marines. He eventually enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany.
Lynn married Orpha Bjerke and together they had six children. He was a lifelong farmer in the Ulen area, and farming and nature were his passion.
Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant daughter, Sandra; brother, Donald Stumbo and sisters, Ann (Milton) Larson and Florence (Carl) Bakkum; sister-in-law, Ruth Stumbo and brothers-in-law, Cliff Hollenbeck and Robert Dahl.
Survivors include five children, Rose Lee of Killdeer, ND, Dan (Jane) Stumbo of Moorhead, Tom (Shelly Speed) Stumbo of Moorhead, Greg (Jennifer Harrington) Stumbo of Fergus Falls and Kevin Stumbo of Lakeland, FL; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon Stumbo of Wahpeton; sisters, Jean (Don) Niemann of AZ, Eva Hollenbeck of NC, Laurel Dahl of International Falls, MN and sister-in-law, Lorraine Stumbo of Fargo. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation: 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015 with a 2:30 p.m. prayer service at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
