Lyla G. Williamschen, 75, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Lake Region Healthcare.
She was born on January 21, 1943, in Pelican Rapids to Bernoff and Myrtle (Huseby) Johnson. Lyla attended rural country school and high school in Pelican Rapids. After graduation, Lyla moved to Minneapolis.
On January 29, 1965, Lyla was united in marriage to David Williamschen. They lived in Minneapolis for two years, and then moved to Fergus Falls in 1967 where they have resided since.
Lyla was an energetic bowler for many years. She loved spending time with her family traveling, and enjoying their place at Star Lake. Lyla was a great gardener, baker of authentic Norwegian desserts, and was very crafty and creative. She volunteered for the Big Brother/Big Sister program and the Fergus Falls Community Food Shelf. Lyla was always a kind, caring, and giving lady.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Dave Williamschen of Fergus Falls; children, Lisa (Kirk) Dewey of Bismarck, ND, Dean (Jill) Williamschen of Fergus Falls; 5 grandchildren, Erin Dewey, Troy (Rachel) Dewey, Berit Williamschen, Reid (Liz) Williamschen, Detric Williamschen; and a sister, Marcy (Larry) Scully of Fergus Falls.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Tom Peterson
Interment: Bethlehem Cemetery, Fergus Falls
