Luverne Edna Muchow, 91, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was born April 10, 1917, in Friberg Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Milbeck) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm in Friberg Township, where she attended country school. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1937. Following graduation she was employed at the Fergus Falls State Hospital. She married Ronald Muchow at her parent’s home in Friberg Township on June 28, 1942. While Ronald was in the military she lived and worked in Long Beach, California, and Wilmington, North Carolina. Upon Ronald’s discharge from the Army in 1945, they returned home to Fergus Falls where they raised their family. After her last child entered school, Luverne returned to work for School District #544 as a baker at the Junior High and High School cafeterias. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, their Ladies Aide, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ronald; five brothers: Lyle, David, Mervin, Duwayne and Daryl Anderson; and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hasbargen. Survivors include her daughters: Karen Muchow of Fargo, Kathy (Tony Tovar) Hasbargen of Wahpeton and Mary Beth Muchow of Chandler, AZ; her sons: Douglas and Mark Muchow of Fergus Falls, and Steven (Deborah) Muchow of Nevis; nine grandchildren: Sarah (Justin) Schillo of Bismarck, ND, Jacob Hasbargen of Breckenridge, Joshua (Kari) Hasbargen of Foxhome, Jonathan (Holli) Hasbargen of Fargo, Stephanie (Travis) Merseth of Fargo, Jasmine (Bill) MacFarlane of Kindred, Andrea Flemmer of Fargo, Clyde Muchow of Moorhead, and Benjamin Muchow of Wadena; nine great-grandchildren: Ellie and Gracie MacFarlane, Conner and Ireland Flemmer, Aiden Hoss, Caleb Schillo, Paityn Hasbargen, Kylie Muchow, and Amber Merseth; and a sister, Valdine (Manley) Haugen of Clitherall.
