Lula Eva Brown

Lula Eva Brown, 91, of Fergus Falls, died peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, surrounded by her beloved brother, Ronald Brown, his wife, Ilene, and her niece, Diane.
Lula was born on April 14, 1925, to Clark and Ellen (Pierce) Brown on their farm in Vergas, MN. At age eleven, her family bought a farm that the family calls the “Homestead.” This beautiful farmstead is nestled between Maplewood State Park in Lida Township. As a young girl, Lula and her brother helped their parents with one of the first turkey farms in the Pelican Rapids area, where they raised wild turkeys for the local turkey plant in Pelican.
Lula went to country school and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. On the farm, she grew and sold her strawberries. In her younger years, Lula worked at Holloway Hill/Ski Lodge in the winter and for Townsend Concession stands in the summer. After graduation, she attended Moorhead State University where she earned her teaching degree. She taught school in Parkers Prairie and Doran and Sunday School for a few years, before she pursued her true calling of “art” and worked for the Otter Tail County Assessors offices for many years.
Lula lived on the family farm for eighty years, before moving to Moorhead for two years to live with her niece, and eventually she became a resident at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls. Lula will always be remembered for her beautiful oil and water color paintings, which will be her legacy and live on for many generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Ellen (Pierce) Brown; and an infant sister, Ila Brown.
Lula is survived by her brother, Ronald C. (Ilene) Brown of Fergus Falls; her nieces and nephews, Delaine (Mike) Haugen, Doreen (David) Hulbert, Darwin (Monica) Brown, Daniel (Michele) Brown and Diane (Randy) Hasse; and many cousins and friends.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at Olson Funeral Home.
