Luella Theodorson

Luella Eldora Theodorson, 94, of Fergus Falls, died April 7, 2011, at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls. Luella was born on the home farm in Oscar Township, on June 18, 1916, to Fred and Bertha (Grunewald) Zimmerman. She attended the country school District #61 and graduated from the eighth grade when she was 14 years old. On February 3, 1935, Luella married Richard Theodorson. They lived just west of Rothsay for a short period of time. They moved into Rothsay where Richard had a trucking business. In March of 1943, they moved to Dent where Richard managed a lumber yard until November of that year. They then moved to Perham where he was a bulk station owner/operator for Standard Oil Company. Luella worked for the City of Perham and sewed for a local tailor. Later in their life in Perham, she worked at the neighborhood grocery store. In 1964, they sold their home in Perham and moved to Erhard were they bought a gas station and ran that until 1974. Luella worked at the Post Office and the gas station until they moved to a farm just west of Dent in 1975. In 1978, they sold their farm and moved to Fergus Falls. In 1999, they moved to the Pioneer Pointe Assisted Living facility and later into the Pioneer Retirement Community in 2009. Luella was an active member of the DAC/ARC, attended the Zion Lutheran Church where she enjoyed quilting with the ladies groups. While living in Perham she served as a Sunday School teacher and was a very involved member of the church. Luella was very handy with a sewing machine and knitting needles like her mother. Her favorite pastime was knitting doilies, snowflakes and angels. She was an avid gardener and canner and always enjoyed time in her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard in October of 2003; her daughter, Jean Mary in January of 1997; sisters, Alice, Irene, Mildred, Edna, Lydia, Emelia, Esther, Inez, and Betty, as well as her brothers, Herbert, Ernest, Charles, Wilfred and Lloyd. Survivors include her sons, Robert (Dorothy) of Green Valley, AZ, Jerry (Janice) of Marble Falls, TX, Donald (Margaret) of Rockville Center, NY; daughters, Roberta Berg of Richville and Carol (John) Greaves of Lake Shore; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Annette Weiss and Evelyn Heggen. Memorials are preferred to Pioneer Care.
