Lucille (Mrs. Merle) Tommerdahl, 86, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday March 13, 2010, of congestive heart failure, at her home, with hospice care and family by her side. She was born in Fergus Falls on August 20, 1923, to William and Ida (Meyer) Degner. She was baptized and also confirmed at what is now First United Church of Christ, Fergus Falls, where she and her husband Merle were married on April 10, 1942. In 1941, she graduated from Fergus Falls High School. During the three years Merle was in the service, she worked in the office of Dr. Frank Naegele. Lucille was a stay at home mom while the boys were young and later she worked at the Warehouse Food Market and in 2000 she retired from Service Food after many years of employment. Lucille was a devoted wife, and caregiver and a loving mom, grandma and great-grandma. Merle, her husband of 63 years, died April 21, 2005. Along with her husband, Merle, her parents, and sisters, Esther Johnson and Margaret Michaelson preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Blake (Lisa) Tommerdahl and Steve Tommerdahl of Fergus Falls and Scott Tommerdahl of Fargo, ND; and five grandchildren, Travis (28) (Staisha), Shawn (26), Tanya, (24) (fiancé Jamie Schmidt) all of Fergus Falls, Krista (25), of Blaine and Mitch (24), of Fargo. The greatest joy of her life were her great-grandchildren, Izabel (7), Aurora (4), Gavin (2), Evelynn (11 months) Tommerdahl, Braxton (17 months), and Taelyn Schmidt (due in May). Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Sydney Michaelson of Fergus Falls and numerous nieces and nephews.
