Lucille "Lucy" Kilde

July 13, 1940 — February 11, 2019

Lucille “Lucy” Marlene (Clark) Kilde died peacefully with her husband by her side on February 11, 2019, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, at the age of 78.

Lucy was born on July 13, 1940, in Lien Township, Grant County, MN, to Emerson and Irene (Lohse) Clark. She grew up in the Elbow Lake area and attended Elbow Lake High School.

On January 17, 1959, Lucy married the love of her life, Dennis Harold Kilde at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glen Lake, MN. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on January 17, 2019. Dennis and Lucy started their married life in Rapid City, SD, where Dennis was stationed in the Air Force. The couple lived in in the Minneapolis area after Dennis was discharged from the military and eventually settled in Fergus Falls to raise their family.

The couple have three daughters, Romayne Lucille, Rhonda Lee and Renee Lynn. Each summer the family would travel for vacation often visiting brother Bud and family in San Jose, CA, and sister Lois and family in Bend, OR. They traveled to Florida in the summer of 1976 and celebrated the Bicentennial on July 4th in Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.

Dennis and Lucy lived in a small and quaint home on Adolphus Ave in Fergus Falls until 1997 when they built their dream retirement home on Jewett Lake, 10 miles north of Fergus Falls.

Over the years, Dennis and Lucy were members of a number of different bowling leagues and enjoyed competing in National Bowling tournaments. They also enjoyed traveling with Clint and Lindy Kilde, Barb and Vernon Stich and Rod and Eileen Kilde to favorite Country Music destinations like Nashville, TN, and Branson, MO.

Lucy held a variety of jobs throughout her life, including waitressing at the Ben Kilde owned Pizza Pit in the 1960’s. She also worked in child care, Welcome Wagon and at several local radio stations. Lucy was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
Dennis and Lucy retired in 2002 and loved living at the lake. Dennis had his fishing and Lucy had her flower gardens.

Lucy loved her family with all her heart. It was a joy when everyone could all be together. It happened for the last time on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2018, when the whole family was there to celebrate Christmas at the Pioneer Home.

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Irene Clark; in-laws, Joe and Effie Kilde; sister, Betty (Clark) Duncan; brothers-in-law, Andy Hilde, Bud (Joy) Kilde, Duane (Dee) Kilde, Dick Haney; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Sherman and Sharon Bloch and great granddaughter, Shelby.
