Lucille B. Harry, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
She was born July 22, 1922, at Doran, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Clara (Peterson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Vukku Lutheran Church, and grew up in the Doran-Foxhome area.
On January 25, 1941, she married Lawson Oliphant in the Methodist Church at Breckenridge. They lived in the Foxhome area until his death in 1974.
On September 3, 1977, she married Winston Harry of Fergus Falls, where they lived until his death in 1988.
She worked as a designer at Bergen’s Floral for nearly 20 years, and later after retiring, at Natures Garden World. She loved creating beauty, so her work brought her great joy.
She was kind and compassionate, and had great love for her family, especially the grandchildren. She dearly loved being with them whenever possible.
She enjoyed the outdoors, taking care of her yard and flowers, and watching and feeding the birds. She loved being around people, and would never miss an opportunity to have coffee with friends.
Lucille was a member of the Lake Region Hospital Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She did extensive volunteer work at those organizations, as well as the Veterans Home. She was also a member of the Fergus Falls Area Garden Club, and served as an election judge for many years.
Preceding her in death were her father and mother, brothers Vernon and Donald, husbands Lawson and Winston, daughter LaVonne, four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and one niece.
She is survived by her daughter LaFaye (Bill) Thompson of Erhard; three grandchildren: Kayla (Kevin) Wheeler of Fergus Falls, Kristie Thompson (Ken Evenson) of Maple Grove, and Jamie Lemke of Erhard; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three great-great step-grandchildren; sisters: Marie Oliphant of Foxhome and DeLores (Rudy) Langston of Fergus Falls; son-in-law Marvin Lemke of Erhard; two stepsons: Richard and Tom Harry and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and resumes on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
