Lucille K. Goerdt, 93, of Wendell, died Monday, March 18, 2019, at the Evansville Care Center.
Lucille Kathleen Goerdt was born March 18, 1926, to Henry and Gertrude (Feller) Westhoff at home in Salem, South Dakota, and was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. When she was six months old the family moved to a farm near Perham, MN. She was confirmed at St. James Catholic Church in Maine. Lucille attended District 13 country school and Fergus Falls School where she was honored for having eight years of perfect attendance. She then graduated from Perham High School in 1944 and furthered her education by receiving a Registered Nursing Degree from St. Francis Hospital Nursing School graduating in 1947 from the US Cadet Nurses Corps.
On November 22, 1949, she married Lorain Goerdt at St. Lawrence Catholic Church near Perham and the couple settled on the home farm. Lucille was a dedicated nurse for 35 years at Lake Region Hospital. She was active in homemakers and several years of 4-H leadership. She was an active member of St. Gall Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Aid. Lucille enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lorain; son, Tom; great-grandson, Peyton Gerads; sisters, Marie Doll and Ann Welden and brothers, Leon Westhoff and Mike Westhoff.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Debra) Goerdt of Fergus Falls, Kathleen (Larry) Stoeser of Willmar, and Dennis (sig. other Kayla Anderson) Goerdt of Wendell; 10 grandchildren, Wayne (Sarah) Goerdt of Campbell, Tammy (Dave) Kjorness of Herman, Melanie (Johnny) Longoria of Fergus Falls, Sherie (sig. other Taylor Olson) Goerdt of Fergus Falls, Lisa (Travis) Gerads of Hudson,WI, Eric (Casey) Stoeser of Lincoln, ND, Jennifer (Richard) Berg of Big Lake, Melissa (Johnnie) Lu of Oakdale, Matthew Anderson-Goerdt of Wendell, and Lydia Anderson-Goerdt of Menahga; 29 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Gerads, Nolan Gerads, Colton, Hadley and Reese Stoeser, Henry Anderson, Haley Riley, Alyssa Kjorness, Mariah Kjorness, McKenna Kjorness, Alisha Kjorness, Dylan Goerdt, Hannah Goerdt, Taylor Ness, Lilli Ness, Jakob Ness, Isaac Longoria, Austin Longoria, Analicia Longoria, Adrian Longoria, Izabella Goerdt-Olson, Kourtney, Jordyn and Owen Olson, Carson Berg, Kendra Berg, Allison Lu, Aimee Lu, and Andrew Lu; great-great-granddaughter, Delaney Gerads; a sister, Jean Schmidt of Perham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5 PM – 7 PM Friday, March 22, 2019, at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls with the Rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the Mass at the Church.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 AM Saturday, March 23, 2019, at St. Gall Catholic Church, Tintah, MN
