Lucille Franklin, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Lucille Vera Franklin was born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota on June 1, 1922, the daughter of Jacob and Justina (Heier) Dick. She grew up in Mountain Lake and graduated in 1940. After graduating she went to work at Northern Pump in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was there she met the love of her life, Dan. They were married on May 19, 1945. The couple had four sons and one daughter. She lived most of her married life in Wendell and summers were spent at Eagle Lake.
She was involved in various activities including study club, Eastern Star, bowling on the Standardettes team in the Gutter Dusters League, Homemakers Club in Wendell. She was formerly a member of First Presbyterian Church in Elbow Lake and currently a member of the Federated Church in Fergus Falls. She was active in both churches.
Lucille enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and sports. She especially enjoyed Boys Basketball and attended the state tournament for 40 years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Dan; daughter-in-law, Barb Franklin; sister, Joyce Johnson and brother, James Dick.
Survivors include her children, Paul (Carol) Franklin of Casper, WY, James (Sharlea) Franklin of Elbow Lake, Mark Franklin of Whitehall, WI, David (Beth) Franklin of Battle Lake and Connie (Pat) Prunty of Dent, MN; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Don Dick of Edina, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
