Lucille Mildred Burseth, 92, a resident of Dane Prairie Township, died Sunday, June 03, 2007 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born July 10, 1914, in Elbow Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Adolph A. and Maria I. "Mary" (Anderson) Balgaard. She grew up in Ashby where she attended school. On June 3, 1937, she married Philip Burseth at the parsonage in Dalton by the Reverend Blikstad. The couple had one son, Philip Alan. Lucille was involved with her husband in Farm Bureau. She belonged to the Swan Lake Lutheran Church and it's Ladies Aide, and the Swan Lake neighborhood homemakers group. In 1972 she and Philip were given the Valley Farmer and Homemaker Award in Crookston, and in 1990 they were given an Honorary Life Membership by the Farm Bureau Federation in Minneapolis. She enjoyed traveling with Philip, and they traveled through nearly every state in the union, including Hawaii twice, nearly every province in Canada, Mexico, and several trips to Norway, but Lucille remained proud of her own Swedish heritage as well. Lucille enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafts, flowers, baking, sewing and needlework. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Philip; two brothers, Arthur and Oscar; and three sisters: Irene Johnson, Norma Cogorno, and Adeline Bousquet. Survivors include her son, Alan (Sheila) Burseth of Fairfield, California; a granddaughter, Teresa (Mick) Hoeper; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Devin Hoeper; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials are preferred to the Swan Lake Lutheran Cemetery fund. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
