Louise Signe Hogan, 96, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, December 24, 2017, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Louise was born on February 12, 1921, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Thorval and Bertha (Nerby) Brothen. She grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School.
She married Willard “Eric” Erickson and the couple lived in Fergus Falls and Jamestown. Later she married Dr. Clifford Hogan and they lived in Jamestown.
Louise’s interests were varied and many, from her position on the Board of Directors at the Central Dakota Nursing Home in Jamestown to her certification as a private pilot, embarking on many flights from the Jamestown Regional Airport. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and especially proud of her homemade rosettes and krumkake. Louise enjoyed many summers at Otter Tail Lake and winters in Palm Springs, CA. She loved making people laugh and made a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Willard “Eric” Erickson and Dr. Clifford Hogan; a daughter, who died in infancy; brothers, Arthur (Margret), Ivar (Ruth), Bob (Betty) Brothen; sister, Margaret (Roy) Torstenson and a son-in-law, John Amsler.
Survivors include her children, Jill Amsler, John Erickson, Mary Hogan, Knute Hogan; four grandchildren, Eric (Rakel) Hale, Brita (Brett) Forbes, Tina Erickson, Dana (Sara) Erickson; several great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and a sister, Edna Brothen. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Louise.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. of Friday, May 18, 2018, at the PioneerCare Celebration Center, Fergus Falls, MN
