Lou Anne Deloris (Anderson) Stine, 83, a resident of Tordenskjold Township, after losing her battle to colon cancer, died on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at her daughter’s home in Canby, MN, under the care of Sanford Hospice, and surrounded by her family.
Lou Anne was born to Arnold and Clarice (Anderson) Anderson, in Grant County, rural Elbow Lake, on February 11, 1933. She was the fourth of six children.
In spring of 1938, Arnold and the family moved from the family farm by Elbow Lake, to another farm by Underwood in Tordenskjold Township. Lou Anne attended school in Underwood and graduated from Underwood High School in 1951, at the top of her class and was named class Valedictorian. During high school, she met and dated her future husband Gerald D. Stine.
Gerald joined the Air Force right out of high school. While he completed basic and technical training, Lou Anne attended school for accounting. They were united in marriage on July 12, 1953, at Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Underwood. During their military career, Lou Anne and her family lived in a variety of locations around the world.
After retiring from the Air Force, Lou Anne and Gerald moved their family back to Underwood, where they built a house on South Turtle Lake. Over the years, Lou Anne worked at several places in the area as a bookkeeper.
After retirement, they enjoyed working on their house and in the yard and garden. They also loved traveling to see their grandchildren around the country. She was a lifelong member of Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Underwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; two grandsons, Michael Scott Stine and Joshua Ringquist; her brothers, Jerome “Shortie” and Clayton Anderson; and her sisters, Genevieve (Oscar) Gudding and Lucille Lemke.
Lou Anne is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Kevin) Hoffmann of Canby; sons, Leroy Stine of Perham, Terry (Connie) Stine of Oklahoma City, OK, Michael (June) Stine of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Shorten, Marie (Shawn) Louwagie, Melanie (Patrick) Miller, Madeline (Tim) Gail, Daniel (Julianna) Stine, Joshua Dowdell Stine, Joseph Dowdell Stine, Scott Stine, Courtney Secondo, James Dowdell Stine, Sara Stine, Quinn Stine, Isaac (Jessie) Stine, Matthew (Kassie) Stine, Mikaela Stine, Jacob Stine, David Stine, and Aaron Stine; step-grandchildren, Andy (Jamie) Hoffmann, Katie (Mike) Kaiser, and Cody Hoffmann; great-grandchildren, Clara Shorten, Bethanney and Harper Jo Hoffmann, and Brady and Kylie Kaiser; one sister, Virginia Starin of McFarland, WI; sister-in-law, Marian Anderson; and brother-in-law, Keith Lemke. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
