Lorraine Dorothy Phelps, 80, loving wife of Earl Phelps, formerly of Fergus Falls, died peacefully at her home in Vadnais Heights on Friday, April 24, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 3, 1928, in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, the daughter of Roy and Mary Peterson. Roy was the town’s barber. She grew up in Parkers Prairie and spent her days playing the violin, tap dancing, and singing for church functions. She married Earl Phelps in the summer of 1950. Lorraine was a wonderful wife and mother. We will miss her beautiful blue eyes and smile every day for the rest of our lives. She made each of us feel loved and cherished. She enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends, flowers, and spending as much time as possible with her five grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Earl Phelps of Vadnais Heights; her two children, Jackie (Rory) DeMesy of Golden Valley, and Jim Phelps of Vadnais Heights; five grandchildren, Melissa and Brad Phelps, Carissa, Lindsey and Joe DeMesy, all from Minneapolis and a step daughter, Cheri Ann (Mike) Hoeper.
