Lorraine Eleanor Brusven, 85, formerly of Rothsay, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Johanna House, rural Ashby, Minnesota, under the care of Lakeland Hospice. She was born July 22, 1922, at her home in Prairie View Township of Wilkin County, the daughter of Oliver and Clara (Pederson) Sillerud. She attended school at District #19 in Prairie View Township. On October 27, 1956, she married Adolph Brusven at Little Bethany, Minnesota. Throughout the years she was a homemaker and worked on the family farm until Adolph’s death in 1975. Later she worked at the Rothsay Truck Stop as a cook and baker from the late 70’s until her retirement in the early 90’s. She was a long time member of Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay where she was active in Circle. Lorraine was famous for her lefse and doughnuts. She loved to quilt and make crafts. She won several awards at the Barnesville County Fair for her baking and garden produce. Preceding her in death were her husband; sisters, Orpha Larsen and Ardis Halbakken; and a brother, Palmer Sillerud. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce “Jenny” (Greg) Bryant, of Loveland, Colorado; four brothers, Carl Sillerud of Barnesville, MN, Glenn Sillerud of Glasgow, MT, Kenneth Sillerud of Fergus Falls, MN, and Arlen Sillerud of Ada, MN, and by many nieces and nephews.
