Loralee Hansen

Loralee Hansen, 78, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, at the Pioneer Care Facility. She was born February 21, 1933, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Fred and Leona (Dietrich) Henning. She was baptized and confirmed at Olivet Lutheran Church of Fargo. Loralee graduated from Fargo High School and in 1954 she graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, with honors. On May 19, 1954, she married Dorwin Hansen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. While Dorwin was serving in the Military in Korea, she taught school in Dassel, MN. In 1957, they moved to Fergus Falls where she taught in the Fergus Falls school system for a few years. In 1980, she resumed her teaching career in Ashby, after enjoying being at home as a wife and mother. Loralee had a strong faith and was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, enjoying the work of the church. Her entire family and it’s history were very important to her. She belonged to the antiquarians, a sewing group, three bridge groups and enjoyed needlework, scrapbooking, traveling and was an avid reader. Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Marie Miller and her husband, Roy; a brother, Victor Henning and brothers-in-law, Allen and Lorenzo Hansen. Survivors include Dorwin, her husband of 57 years; a son, Timothy, his wife Cris Hansen and their children, Owen and Anna of Minneapolis; a daughter, Jennifer, her husband Steve Bourgault and their children Rachel and Kathryn of Fargo; a son, Jed, his wife Heidi Busse-Hansen and their children Lenore and Oakes of Mankato; a sister, Beverly and her husband Bob Peterson of Bismark, ND; sisters-in-law, Nancy Henning of Ft. Collins, CO, and Ethel Hansen of Dacono, CO, and along with many nieces and nephews. Memorials are preferred to WELCA of First Lutheran Church.
