Lola Evelyn Kirchoff of Fergus Falls passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 while residing at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, gracefully ending a life filled with faith, friends, family and love. She was born on June 11, 1922, in Remsen Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Laura (Nitzschke) Hanno. Lola grew up on the family farm and attended school in the area. In 1940, Lola met Charles Kirchoff. They were married on October 25, 1942, in Remsen. She then joined her husband in Memphis, Tennessee, during his military service at the Millington Naval Air Station. Upon his discharge, they lived in Cleghorn, Iowa, until 1957, when they moved to Detroit Lakes and later Fergus Falls., where she was a longtime employee of the Gamble's store. Lola was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and will be fondly remembered for her love of reading, appreciation of nature, and curiosity about different cultures and destinations She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Linda Reiwer, in 1966, and siblings Irvin, Verna, Edna, Loren, and Elmer "Bud." Lola is survived by her husband of more than 67 years, Charles; son Barry (Kathleen) Kirchoff of Saint Cloud; granddaughter Jessica (Joshua) Schneider, and sons Brody and Simon of Golden Valley; granddaughter, Alisha Kirchoff of Brooklyn, N.Y.; grandson, Bryce Kirchoff of Madison, WI.; sister-in-law Shirley Hanno of LeMars, IA; former son-in-law Richard "Dick" Reiwer, and his family of Frazee. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund in Fergus Falls. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Olson Funeral Home, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church. Services: 2 p. m.
