Lloyd E. Volen, 87, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. He was born December 25, 1919, in Tordenskjold Township, rural Dalton, the youngest son of Ole and Sophie (Anderson) Volen. Lloyd grew up on the family farm, attending school at District 20, and following school entered the Army. On December 25, 1948, he married Myra Lechleiter. The couple spent their lives in the communities of Fergus Falls, Dalton, and Weslaco, Texas. Myra passed away August 20, 1992. Over the years he was employed at Park Region Telephone, Raymond Truck Lines, and Fergus Falls Public Schools. Lloyd was a 60 year member of the American Legion and past District Commander. He also was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fergus Falls Elks and 29 year member of the Eagles in Fergus Falls. He was also a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Dalton. He enjoyed working in his yard and doing home maintenance. He always liked to be puttering with something. Preceding him in death were his wife, Myra; a sister, Gertie; a brother, Adrian; and his parents. Survivors include a niece, Carol (Joel) Moline of St. Peter, MN; nephews: Craig (Norma) Hoff of Alexandria, MN, and Paul Hoff of Minneapolis; and several great nieces and nephews. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior the service at the church. Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Our Saviors-Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church in Dalton.
