Lloyd Ernest Sonstebo, 88, of Fergus Falls, formerly of Underwood, died April 16, 2011, at the PioneerCare in Fergus Falls. Lloyd was born on October 26, 1922, in Dalton, the son of Ole and Hansine (Hagestande) Sonstebo. There, he was raised on the family farm and attended school until grade 8. On June 24, 1945, Lloyd and June Synstelien were married, in Dalton, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where Lloyd was a lifelong member. The majority of his working life was spent working on the family farm in rural Underwood. After retiring from farming, he went south to combine with a combining crew for several years. When he returned from the south, he delivered the Fergus Journal, drove milk truck from Fergus Falls to Melrose, worked as a custodian and assistant crew leader at the Iverson rest area. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards, taking care of his cows and visiting with and following the activities of family and friends. He was a RedHawks and Twins baseball fan. He also served on the Creamery Board, Tordenskjold Town Board, served on various church committees, was a 4-H leader and delivered Meals on Wheels. Family members preceding him in death were his parents; sisters: Ruth Jensen, Mabel Overgaard, Esther Olson and Harriet Mortenson; great-granddaughter, Leasha Hoff; and nephew, Robert Jensen. He is survived by his wife, June, of Fergus Falls; children: Steven (Maxine) Sonstebo of Fergus Falls, Janyne Hoff of Fergus Falls, and Gail (Dale) Janssen of Montevideo; eight grandchildren: Kevin Sonstebo, Daryl Sonstebo, Lynette (Mike) Bauer, Pamala (Bryan) Odegard, Troy (Glenda) Hoff, Michelle (Keith) Pearson, Brett (Elizabeth) Janssen and Aaron Janssen; twelve great- grandchildren: Chase and Cole Sonstebo, Luke and Wyatt Bauer, Jessica (Devin) Hammer, Ariana Odegard, Jacob Hoff, Drew, Ty and Nicolas Pearson, and Madelyn and Abigail Janssen; and two sisters-in law: Shirley Schliep of Morris and EaVon (Meinard) Morrow-Sand of Rosholt, SD. Visitation 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, April 20th with a 6:30 prayer service at the Olson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 11 A.M.
